Corey Steinberg is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and the dog-loving founder of Wag Academy. Her love for animals began in childhood, but her journey to becoming a dog trainer was only realized after more than 20 years as a Federal Prosecutor. Discovering that she vastly preferred dogs to attorneys, she formally retired from the United States Attorney’s Office in 2021.
Since then, Corey has honed her training skills and has found her niche in therapy dog training for which she is certified by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) / Community Canine Evaluator. Corey is a Certified Pet First Aid / Pet CPR Instructor teaching pet professionals and owners the latest veterinarian-approved protocols to keep their pets safe and healthy. She is also a presenter of the Doggone Safe “Be a Tree” Dog Bite Prevention Safety Program for children. When not training dogs and their humans, Corey teams up with her two certified therapy dogs, a beautiful Australian Labradoodle, Wyatt, and a meatball-shaped bulldog, Pumpernickel, paying visits to schools, hospitals, senior centers and anywhere else a comfort dog is needed.
